Welcome and thank you for visiting our website!  Visit our physical location and you will discover that the studio space at Harvest Moon Art Therapy Studio was carefully designed to create a pleasant experience for customers.  When you arrive you may enjoy a complimentary cup of hot tea/cocoa or a cup of cold water, while you listen to relaxing instrumental music.  Instructional art classes take place in a clean and open area with plenty of natural lighting provided by skylights, while therapy sessions take place in a comfortable and confidential office in the back of the studio.  The studio (suite 302) is located at Sherman Mills (a newly formed artist community) in the East Falls area of Philadelphia.

Counseling

Harvest Moon Art Therapy Studio offers a combination of art therapy and traditional mental health counseling (talk-therapy) sessions for children, adolescents, and adults.  Sessions take place with a compassionate, life-affirming, supportive therapist in a confidential office.  Art therapists believe that the process of making art is both healing and rejuvenating.  Art is used therapeutically by the therapist to help clients work through difficult thoughts and emotions in order to change negative behavior.

Art Classes

Harvest Moon Art Therapy Studio offers exciting instructional art classes for children, adolescents, and adults of varying skill levels from beginner to expert.  Beginners are introduced to the elements and principles of art, while more advanced artists can perfect their skills and explore their creative process.  Making art can relieve stress, increase creativity, improve problem solving skills, and build confidence.  Art classes are for educational purposes only and are not intended to treat mental health issues.

Harvest Moon Logo

The Harvest Moon is the full moon which occurs closest to the date of the autumnal equinox in the Northern Hemisphere.  This moon was named the Harvest Moon because the extra light at night was an asset to farmers who were harvesting their crops.  Harvest – (verb) is the gathering in of a crop (i.e. grain, fruit, fish, etc.).  Harvest (noun) refers to the actual crop.  In addition, the word harvest can describe the outcome of any effort.  The harvest symbol was chosen to represent the therapeutic process.  A therapist can be a guide who teaches clients how to harvest their own spiritual fruits (planted by God, Creator, Allah, Source, etc.) in order to nourish and rejuvenate themselves.  The fruits are positive things like talent, inner strength, intelligence, confidence, etc.  The harvest is directly related to how much work and sacrifice a client makes throughout the therapeutic process.  The therapist can serve as a guide and provide emotional support throughout this journey, however the client must assume full responsibility for the outcome in order to yeild an abundant harvest.  Moon – Personally, moonlight is a reminder that God’s light still shines even in darkness.  Circles are commonly used in many cultures to represent balance and wholeness.

Ms. Gaudet is a member of an artist organization known as the b32 icon badgegroup at Sherman Mills.
